Role Overview
The Territory Business Manager will be responsible for managing and developing a defined customer territory, promoting a healthcare product portfolio and supporting the delivery of sales targets.
This is a field-based commercial role involving regular engagement with existing accounts, new customers and key decision-makers. The successful candidate will work closely with the National Sales Manager, Key Account colleagues and internal teams to develop territory plans, identify growth opportunities and deliver strong customer partnerships.
The role requires a proactive, organised and professional individual who can analyse territory performance, understand customer needs, present clear business proposals and represent the company with integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a defined territory, maintaining strong relationships with existing accounts while identifying opportunities for growth.
- Promote a healthcare product portfolio and associated value-added services to relevant customers and decision-makers.
- Build a clear understanding of the territory, including customer segmentation, account potential and competitor activity.
- Identify new business opportunities and develop appropriate sales strategies and tactical plans.
- Create and present regular territory business plans in line with commercial objectives.
- Engage with healthcare professionals, business owners, practice teams and other relevant customer contacts.
- Identify growth opportunities within target accounts and align appropriate business support services to customer needs.
- Build positive, long-term customer relationships based on trust, commercial value and mutual benefit.
- Work closely with the National Sales Manager and Key Account colleagues to support cross-territory and group account opportunities.
- Prepare commercial business proposals, working with internal stakeholders to gain the required approval.
- Negotiate approved pricing and commercial proposals directly with customers.
- Analyse sales performance, territory data and customer activity to identify opportunities to improve results.
- Track and report on territory performance, highlighting risks, opportunities and recommended actions.
- Work with marketing and other internal teams to share customer feedback, market insight and competitor intelligence.
- Maintain accurate records of customer activity, business plans, proposals and account progress.
- Represent the company professionally, ethically and with a strong customer-focused approach.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be commercially driven, confident speaking with customers and able to build strong relationships across a defined territory.
Previous sales experience would be advantageous, particularly within healthcare, medical, pharmaceutical, technical, commercial or business-to-business environments. However, candidates with strong transferable skills, commercial awareness and the ability to learn technical product information will also be considered.
You will be organised, self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. The ability to analyse data, understand customer needs and communicate effectively will be important to success in this role.
Key Skills and Experience
- Previous sales, account management, business development or customer-facing experience would be advantageous.
- Experience within healthcare, medical, pharmaceutical, technical or regulated markets would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Ability to manage and grow a customer territory.
- Strong relationship-building and customer engagement skills.
- Ability to understand customer needs and identify commercial opportunities.
- Confidence presenting products, services and business proposals.
- Ability to analyse sales data, interpret performance and recommend actions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Commercially aware, proactive and results focused.
- Able to learn technical product information and explain it clearly to different customer groups.
- Confident using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Graduate level education or equivalent professional experience would be advantageous.
